DATELINE: Memphis, Tennessee
Remembering Wednesday 15 August 2012

ELVIS QUOTE:
“Man, if I could ever get people to talk about me the way they talk about Liberace, I would really have it made.”

ELVIS TRIVIA:
How long did “All Shook Up” stay on the top 100 charts?

ELVIS HISTORY:
Monday 16 August 1954
It’s very difficult to look back of the date 16 August without thinking of 1977. But for Elvis, the year 1954 was full of hope and expectations. He had graduated from L.C. Humes School in 1952, majoring in shop, history, and English. His activities listed: Clubs—Biology, English, and History, and of course, ROTC.

He had had a difficult year, sometimes failing tests that brought down his grade point average. He often missed school because he was spending more time in Memphis and hanging around the music crowd. Red West had to intervene sometimes because Elvis’s flashy style of clothes got him noticed, not always in a good way—from the guys at least.

Remembering Elvis Week
Tonight we expected to stand honor guard with Sandi Pichon’s TCB Elvis Style Fan Club. We arrived at Marlow’s BBQ at 3PM to meet up with my sister Marlene, her daughter Sandy Jean Wright, friends Earlene Hieronymus and Nancy Johnson from the Kansas City area, and members of the Jacksonville “I’ll Remember You, Elvis Fan Club.

However, my niece called to say Marlene was in Methodist South Hospital, and all plans changed.
