Fall 1954
After the disappointing Grand Ole Opry performance, Elvis went with Sam Phillips and the gang to a nightclub. Elvis went in, promptly turned around and walked out. He sat on the sidewalk and when asked, said his momma would not approve of his drinking in a nightclub. WMPS radio’s manager forbid any disc jockey to play Elvis’s records. DJ Bob Neal complied. Elvis was unhappy.

Outstanding speaker today at the Ancient City Romance Authors (ACRA) workshop. JSO Deputy Keith Nazworth answered questions from members. His sense of humor was delightful. He encouraged us to attend the Citizens’ Academy starting the 27th of September. I will certainly do that. One question he loved was whether Jacksonville cops would be doing what the Orlando motorcycle police were doing (dressing up as Elves and pointing the radar gun at cars). He said he never would, but did say that being a motorcycle cop was one way he could wear tights and not get laughed at (to his face).

RECIPE OF THE DAY:
From Woman’s Day June Issue:
No Flour— Easy Peanut Butter Cookies:
You’ll need parchment paper
1 cup peanut butter, ¾ cup packed light brown sugar, ¾ tsp baking soda, 1 large egg
Beat w/ electric mixer
Drop by level tsp. full 1 ½ inches apart on parchment paper
Bake 8-10 min 350 degrees
Cool 5 min
Put on wire rack
33 calories each, 1 g. protein, 2 g. fat

TIP OF THE DAY:
Before pouring syrup or honey into a measuring cup, spray cup with cooking spray (like Pam)
