Elvis Blog – Post #35

DATELINE: Amelia Island (near Jacksonville, Florida)
Remembering Thursday 30 August 2012

ELVIS QUOTE:
“I used to get very angry at her when I was growing up. It’s natural when a young person wants to go somewhere or do something and your mother won’t let you…but later on in the years…you’ll find out that she was right.”

ELVIS TRIVIA:
What famous pop artist painted the picture Elvis49Times?

ELVIS HISTORY:
Fall 1954
Elvis and the Blue Moon Boys continued the Louisiana Hayride show and DJ Fontana joined the group. They toured Texas and Elvis was energetic as always. He tapped his feet, drummed his fingers, and his legs shook. Elvis hadn’t traveled much growing up, and the group stopped often so he could see the sights. The teenagers had discovered that Elvis was on the Hayride, and he built a fan base of screamers.

AMELIA ISLAND, FLORIDA:
Thursday 30 August 2012
This morning I left at 6:15 AM to drive to Georgia, meet up with Steve and Doris Covey, and pick up author Maggie Toussaint. Last time I talked to Maggie, she was measuring her suitcase so she wouldn’t exceed her (Steve-imposed) allotment of space. Yesterday I took my dachshund, “Broom-Hilda” (technically it’s Brunne-Hilde) to stay with Jackie (in Yulee) while I’m attending Dragon*Con. Broom loves it out at the doggie place. She is with other dogs and gets to go outdoors when it’s not raining. We are supposed to get a lot of rain from Isaac. I am praying for the people of New Orleans. I love that place.
