Elvis recorded Milkcow Blues Boogie. It didn’t chart. But Bob Neal remarked that it was all right because girls didn’t come to hear Elvis sing. During December Elvis made an LP: Elvis: The First Live Recordings Louisiana Hayride December 18, 1954 with DJ Fontana on drums and Floyd Cramer on the piano. The Presleys moved from Alabama Street to 2414 Lamar Avenue. It was a big step up for the family, but there goes the neighborhood.

I’m at Dragon*Con, the best bargain a writer can get. Where else can you get morning-to-night workshops for less than one hundred dollars and in addition see a fantastic parade on Saturday and see hundreds of unbelievable costumes for four days straight. I was excited to see one of the Walking Dead stars (cute Steven Yeun) as well as Adam West and Burt Ward (1960’s TV’s Batman series), Jamie Bamber from Law and Order UK (yes, the lawyers wear wigs) as well as many other TV actors.

We are traveling by MARTA into the CON. My friend, Sherry Czerniejewski’s, husband was one of the designers of this high-speed rail system. The train whisks us from Buckhead to the Con and we don’t have to look for a parking space. It took me less than a minute to register this year. Last year it took three hours. They have really improved the process.

JOKE OF THE DAY:

RECIPE OF THE DAY:
No-Bake Chocolate Cookie Triangles:
Makes 32 Cookies
Prep: 15 min. & 2 hrs. chill time
Melt ¾ C cubed butter with 8 Oz chopped semisweet chocolate
Stir in 20 coarsely-crushed vanilla wafers & ½ C. chopped pecans
Place in greased, 8” foil-lined pan
Chill covered for 2 hrs
Lift out cookies by lifting foil
Discard foil
Cut cookies into triangles
Refrigerate leftovers

TIP OF THE DAY:
Bathe your pet in salt water to get rid of fleas. Steep rosemary and add it to the water—this makes the bath even more effective.
