Elvis Blog – Post #37
DATELINE: Amelia Island (near Jacksonville, Florida)
Remembering Saturday 1 September 2012
ELVIS QUOTE:
“I wasn’t popular in high school. I wasn’t dating anybody (in high school). I failed music—that was the only class I ever failed.”
ELVIS TRIVIA:
What did Elvis refer to when he said, “Sharing it is what gives it its value?
ELVIS HISTORY:
Winter 1954
Elvis performed in Texas. Newspapers said Elvis ‘egged’ on the screaming girls. Elvis was both praised and condemned by the press. Hugh Thompson called him a bulldozer in the mating season. At this time Col. Parker, the flamboyant ex-carnival barker was promoting Hank Snow through Jamboree Attractions.
ATLANTA, GEORGIA:
Saturday 1 September 2012
Today the Dragon*Con parade will feature a lot of women in bustiers, plenty of Wonder Women, and a ton of steam-punk ladies. I assume storm trooper is still the favorite costume for the men, although I’ll bet the Walking Dead is gaining momentum. I will miss the parade as I have signed up for the hourly workshop track (with Michael Stackpole and Aaron Allson). The fifteen seminars are among the best writing seminars I’ve ever attended.
