Elvis Blog – Post #39
DATELINE: Amelia Island (near Jacksonville, Florida)
Remembering Monday 3 September 2012
ELVIS QUOTE:
“I thought it was supposed to get easier, But it’s getting worse. I hate having to read what people write ’bout me. I just hate it.”
ELVIS TRIVIA:
What Elvis movie caused excited patrons in Mexico City to tear seats, break windows, and the Mexican government to ban all future Elvis movies?
ELVIS HISTORY:
January 1955
Elvis and Bob Neal agreed on a management contract which gave Neal 15% off the top of everything that Elvis earned plus 10% of promotional expenses. He booked Elvis for shows in Arkansas, Texas, Louisiana, Virginia, Florida, Tennessee, Georgia, and New Mexico. Elvis began to wear more outrageous clothes both on and off stage. Black teardrops were sewn onto his pink jackets. Girls were going nuts, but their boyfriends were jealous.

Dragon*Con Last Day
This morning I will attend two sessions in the Apocalypse Rising track, because my current manuscript is about the end of the world as we know it, (21 December 2012) and the Preppers who are preparing for that event). The first seminar today: “Year Two, What Now?” will raise the question: How do we figure out how to live long term—after we’ve survived that first year after civilization has ended. The second session, What Lies Ahead, explores how the survivors will spend their downtime. Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead) will (we hope) explain what the dearly departed are up to in the coming season.
About one o’clock. Steve & Doris Covey, Maggie Toussaint and I will head for home. It went by much too fast. We’re already planning our next year. Sherry Czerniejewski is coming with us, also, she swears. I always swear I’ll wear a costume next time, but always chicken out at the last minute.
I’ll sign up for the 2013 Dragon*Con as soon as I get home.
