ELVIS QUOTE:
“I got wired the wrong way.” What was Elvis referring to?
ELVIS TRIVIA:
What Elvis insignia is painted on the wall of Graceland’s TV room?
ELVIS HISTORY:
1955
In February a major controversy exploded. “Baby, Let’s Play House” was thought to hint at premarital sex. It was the first song that charted for Elvis and hit number ten by on Billboard’s Top 100 in July. On the B side was: I’m Left, You’re Right, She’s Gone. It was released on both a 78 and a 45 RPM. Colonel Parker called to say this record aroused RCA’s interest, at last.
AMELIA ISLAND, FLORIDA:
Tuesday 4 September 2012
Back to the real world. I have line-dancing at 8:30 AM over in the club house, and then water aerobics at 9:00. Brunne-Hilde (AKA Broom-Hilda) is ready to come home, and I’ll pick her up from Jackie’s Pet Boarding and Grooming. Broom loves Jackie but is always excited to come home to her toys. On Tuesdays at 2:00 I am supposed to go to Bean’s Studio for line-dancing but have a ton of things to do—like unpack and do laundry, so will have to skip it today. Also, I have a major problem with my current manuscript. I didn’t realize I had a problem until I took the 4-day workshop at Dragon*Con, ha. Now the re-writes. They say all writing is re-writing. Oh, well. The last day of Dragon*Con I went to a panel featuring the cast of the Walking Dead TV series. The little boy, “Carl” (actually Chandler Riggs) is amazing and Jeremy Ambler was so funny. When a technical question was thrown at the pair, it was “Carl” who answered. Jeremy was also charming, and I sincerely hope he comes back from the dead next season. Can’t wait until October for the series opener. I have been backing up files on Carbonite and so won’t post this until later.
JOKE OF THE DAY:
Among the things that are so simple even a child can operate them, are parents.
RECIPE OF THE DAY:
SWEET TEA is called Texas wine.
Saying sweet tea is an oxymoron in the south.
Texas Tea is not made by dipping a teabag in lukewarm water.
It is dark and strong.
This is the best recipe I’ve found.
To make 1 ½ qts. TEXAS TEA:
Boil 4 C. water
Pour with gusto over 5 small orange pekoe teabags
Don’t let it drip down
Steep at least 1 hour
(Or for hours or overnight)
Haul out the bags & squeeze them hard
Add a scant ¾ C sugar while tea is warm, & stir, stir, stir
Add 2 cup cold water
Stir and chill
If you serve this tea with lemon, make it a wedge
A circle is messy and gets all over your gun belt
If you are a real Texas Tea aficionado you can make sweet tea ice cubes so the tea doesn’t get diluted with watery cubes
TIP OF THE DAY:
No room in the kitchen to store your really good plates? If you only use them for special occasions, why not get plate holders (at craft stores) and hang your pretty plates high on your dining room walls? If they’re Elvis plates you can hang them in the living room.
