Elvis Blog – Post #46
DATELINE: Amelia Island (near Jacksonville, Florida)
Remembering Monday 10 September 2012
ELVIS QUOTE:
“Sure, Colonel, whatever you say is okay with me.”
ELVIS TRIVIA:
Name the character from the musical Bye Bye Birdie that was based on Elvis?
ELVIS HISTORY:
February 1955
DJ Alan Freed introduced the term rock ‘n’ roll on the radio after Bill Hayley sang Rock–a Beatin’ Boogie, one of the first true rock and roll songs. Its lyrics encouraged everybody to rock. Hayley had often used the term to refer to his songs. His Rock Around the Clock was a huge hit, but later the term would be most closely tied to Elvis, and there can be no doubt who is the King of Rock and Roll. Originally the term rock ‘n’ roll was a euphemism for sex but later was only associated with music.
AMELIA ISLAND, FLORIDA:
Monday 10 September 2012
Playing catch up. Still downloading with Carbonite on my other computer so will dump a lot of past blogs on the net when it finishes. While I was at the movies yesterday, Broom-Hilda pulled the cover off her little bed and shredded it. I think she is tired of being alone. Maybe I’ll get her a cat. She loves cats because she has no clue she’s a dog. Of course the cats all know they’re cats, and they don’t take kindly to overly-friendly dogs.
JOKE OF THE DAY:
From Comedian Demetri Martin:
I used to play sports. Then I realized I can buy trophies. Now I’m good at everything.
RECIPE OF THE DAY:
Jalapeno Popper Spread:
You’ll need ½ C Japanese Panko bread crumbs.
Beat 2 pkgs (8 oz each) cream cheese, softened, 1 C mayonnaise, ½ cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese, ¼ C (each) canned chopped green chilies & jalapeno peppers until blended.
Spread into ungreased 9” pie plate
Sprinkle with 1 C Parmesan cheese
Top with Panko
Bake at 400 for 25-30 min
Serve with sweet pepper pieces & corn chips
TIP OF THE DAY:
Don’t have enough wood shelves for storing food? Attach Mason jar lids underneath wood shelves using half-inch screws. Install a lid every 5 inches. Fill jars with spices, macaroni, beans, rice, etc, and screw them up into their lids.
