ELVIS QUOTE:
“He’s the only guy that really gave me the big breaks. . . I don’t think I would have ever been very big with another man. Because he’s—he’s a very smart man.” Who?
ELVIS TRIVIA:
What famous Nashville guitarist played behind Elvis as well as Hank Williams and the Everly Brothers?
ELVIS HISTORY:
Spring of 1955
Elvis’s shows were sold out everywhere, and he performed almost nonstop in Missouri, Louisiana, Tennessee, Arkansas, and Mississippi. , sometimes three shows a night. The colonel’s staff provided the hype. Elvis provided the excitement. In the weeks of constant travel, Elvis and the band didn’t sleep well and often battled headaches, stomachaches, flu, and other illnesses. Whitey Ford had the job of keeping the boys in line.
AMELIA ISLAND, FLORIDA:
Wednesday 12 September 2012
I received this from my niece Sandra Jean Wright long ago and it makes me laugh every time I read it. It is permanently glued to my refrigerator, snout high. I was especially reminded of it yesterday when my dachshund managed to leap up on the leather hassock/coffee table and grab a huge bunch of cheese balls. I am going to place Broom-Hilda in front of the rules until she has read all of it. I will post part two through six this week. Part 2 tomorrow.
To My Dear Dog And Cat: Your Rules Part One:
The dishes with the paw prints are yours and contain your food. The other dishes are mine and contain my food. Please note, placing a paw print in the middle of my plate of food does not stake a claim for it becoming your food and dish, nor do I find it aesthetically pleasing in the slightest.
JOKE OF THE DAY:

RECIPE OF THE DAY:
This recipe from a Taste of Home contributor, Julie Merriman, is for a slow cooker.
It sounds so wonderfully different and surprising that I want to try it, as soon as the weather gets below 90.
Ingredients:
Chorizo (or spicy sausage), sweet potatoes, & poblano & jalapeno peppers.
1 lb uncooked chorizo (casings removed) 1 large chopped onion, 2 finely chopped pablano and 2 seeded chopped jalapeno peppers, 3 TB tomato paste, 3 large, peeled sweet potatoes cut in ½ “ cubes, 4 cans fire-roast diced tomatoes, don’t drain, 2 cans black beans, rinsed & drained, 2 C beef stock, 2 Tb. chili powder. 1 Tb each: oregano, ground coriander & ground cumin, smoked paprika—and ½ C. lime juice.
Cook sausage, onion & peppers over med heat for 8-10 min
Use slotted spoon to transfer to 6-qt slow cooker
Stir in tomato paste, then add the rest—except lime juice
Stir
Cover
Cook low for 6-7 hrs
Now add lime juice
TIP OF THE DAY:
A hairdryer will blow out dusty crevices in your baseboards. Set it to cool. Aim in one direction.
