AMELIA ISLAND, FLORIDA:
Sunday 16 September 2012
Today I am tying up loose ends on a manuscript. I hate this part. I’m still trying to get everything caught up before heading up to North Carolina to the Writers Police Academy. I can’t keep up with more than 100 emails a day, and more and more of the emails from writers’ groups (that are supposed to deal with writing) but simply provide a platform to send political hate mail.

I’m spending a lot of time scanning in all my financial documents and trying to figure out how to get the last six chapters of my current work in progress finished. I see my phone has received 37 hang ups (if I get another political call I’ll be very, very nasty to the unwitting caller, no matter who. One pol says he’s only taking a 45 second survey—really? And what is it you want to know? In the meantime, I’m trying to figure out FACEBOOK but have not really got the hang of it. Oh well, next week maybe I’ll try to master twitter.

JOKE OF THE DAY:
Woman: (to pharmacist in small town) (not Macks Creek, Missouri, ha.) “I need arsenic.”
Pharmacist: “Why?”
Woman: “To kill my husband.”
Pharmacist: “That’s illegal.”
The woman pulled out a picture of her husband and a woman in a compromising position. The woman is the pharmacist’s wife. He takes the photo.
Pharmacist: “Oh, that’s different. I didn’t know you had a prescription!”

DOG RULE #3
I have been using a bathroom for years. Canine attendance is not mandatory or even necessary.

RECIPE OF THE DAY:
Corpus Christi Breakfast Burritos:
Ingredients:
Chorizo, 4 tortillas, 1 avocado
Remove casing from 12 oz chorizo
Break up and saute about 6 min over med heat
Add 4 chopped green onions
Saute 30 sec
Transfer to paper towels stacked in a covered bowl
Wipe out skillet
Whisk 6 la eggs with salt & pepper
Add tiny bit of oil to same skillet & heat over med heat
Add eggs & cook until soft scrambled
Remove & cover
Warm 4 tortillas in second skillet 20 sec
Divide chorizo/onions over tortillas
Divide the next 5 ingredients over the top of the 4:
2/3 C Mexican 4-cheese blend (4 oz), scrambled eggs, ½ C fresh cilantro, ½ C salsa, & 1 sliced avocado
Fold short sides up first, then bottom flap, & then roll up tortillas

TIP OF THE DAY:
Freezing herbs:
Place herbs in a blender with water, then freeze the slush in an ice cube tray. Fill only half way. When nearly frozen, fill the tray up with water & pop it back in. The herbs won’t float.
