Elvis Blog – Post #54 – Sandy Bottoms
DATELINE: AMALIA ISLAND (near Jacksonville, Florida)
Remembering Tuesday 18 September 2012
ELVIS QUOTE:
“There are too many people who depend on me. I’m too obligated. I’m in too far to get out.” What did he mean?
ELVIS TRIVIA:
“It’s what you see in the mirror each morning before coffee, before you put on the face, before you talk to anyone else.” What was he talking about?
ELVIS HISTORY:
14 March 1955
Elvis and the band stopped in Washington DC and Elvis was interviewed by Jimmy Dean Town and Country Jubilee. After the interview, they partied until dawn. Partying for Elvis, who didn’t drink, and didn’t do illegal drugs, consisted of singing gospel songs.
AMELIA ISLAND, FLORIDA:
Tuesday 18 September 2012
Housecleaners are coming Wednesday, so that means I will spend a lot of time cleaning house today in preparation. I don’t splurge on this service often, but my friend Karen is coming up to spend the night so we can take off early Thursday for the Police Academy. We will walk over to Sandy Bottoms on the beach for dinner along with Peggy Tingle and a lot of the folks from this condo. They go nearly every Wednesday night to hear the Macy’s—two enormously gifted singers/musicians. Peggy is our condo organizer supreme. We’ll line dancing and have a great time. I would go every Wednesday, but I’d get no writing done.
JOKE OF THE DAY:
Two man playing golf. Two women playing (slowly) in front of them. One man: “I’ll go tell them to hurry up.” He returned and said: “I have a problem, one of the women is my wife and the other one is my mistress.” The second man said: “I’ll go hurry them up.” He came back and said: “We both have the same problem.”
DOG RULE # 5:
For the last time, there is no secret exit from the bedroom. If by some miracle I beat you to the bedroom door, and manage to get the door shut, it is not necessary to claw, whine try to turn the knob or get your paw under the edge and try to pull the door open. I must exit through the same door I entered.
RECIPE OF THE DAY:
Twice Baked Sweet Potatoes:
Ingredients:
Greek Yogurt, 6 black olives, Dubliner cheese, 2 med sweet potatoes
Wash sweet potatoes
Dry & poke 7 holes in each
Microwave about 6 min
Cool slightly
Scoop out all but ½” of the vegetable flesh
Mash VEG. flesh
Stir in 2 T salsa. ¼ C shredded Dubliner cheese (can use reduced fat version) & dash of pepper
Spoon back into skin halves
Sprinkle each with 1 T Dubliner cheese
Broil about 4 min
Top each with 1 T yogurt & ¼ of the 6 olives, sliced
TIP OF THE DAY:
From Martha Stewart:
Make inexpensive napkins:
Cut seersucker material 20” x 24” squares. Fray the edges by pulling three or four threads across. You never have to iron them.
ELVIS QUOTE ANSWER:
Why he drove himself to perform so many shows, and why he couldn’t stop.
TRIVIA ANSWER:
What you see is the truth.
